Our Story
We started out to satisfy our own hunger for Biltong, quality fresh meat, consistency and great service.
The journey of Biltong.mu started in 2018 when my own insatiable need for readily available, good quality Biltong and Droëwors in Mauritius became unbearable.
I would wake up on Saturday mornings here on our paradise island home of Mauritius, and jokingly say to my wife Louise, “Let’s go down to the butchery for a kilogram of freshly sliced biltong.” and then reality would strike, and I would realise that my need would go unsatisfied.
I started experimenting making my own Biltong, which admittedly was not very good to begin with. I then started a quest to ensure a consistent supply of top-notch quality Biltong in Mauritius, and roped in the skills of my father, Marius, a former butcher widely renowned for his excellent Biltong and Droëwors.
Under the guidance of Marius, we set up a state-of-the-art production capability to produce the finest quality Biltong and I also put my skills to work to set up this eCommerce channel to sell and distribute our products.
Our product range has grown to include a range of Biltong, Fresh Meat products, Baked Goods, Deli products, Candy and a range of other goods.

We do not accept anything but the best, and why should you? This belief in only the best, is the cornerstone of our ethos.
We are proud to share that we are very deliberate about our choices of ingredients and manufacturing processes; we only use the best! We produce our products from a selection of the finest domestically sourced ingredients and individually selected imported meat cuts.
We embrace transparency. We believe that it is imperative for you to know and understand the ingredients and process we use in making our products. For that reason, we list the ingredients of all of our products on our site.
This puts you, our customer, in control to know what it is that you are ordering, and what it is made from, before you place an order with us.
We consider it an honour to deliver to you, our customers, products that are made using the finest ingredients, according to proven methodologies, using state-of-the-art plant and equipment. We promise to you that we will deliver our products in a way and to a standard that we take pride in.
