By definition Biltong is a cured product, which means that it can be kept for extended periods of time.  However, the humid climate of Mauritius adversely impacts the length of time that Biltong can kept without taking special care.

Biltong is best enjoyed when it is fresh and not completely dried out, but if you do wish to store it, here are some pointers:

  1. The plastic lined packaging we deliver the Biltong in is great for transportation, but not great to store your Biltong in.  Remove it from the packet and place it either a paper bag, or open bowl.
  2. Avoid exposing your Biltong to heat or direct sunlight.
  3. Store your Biltong in your refrigerator. 
  4. Your Biltong will continue to dry out the longer you keep it and may not be as tasty as when you received it fresh.
