Biltong is an authentic traditional South African delicacy made from dried meat which is cured through a process involving and salt, vinegar and spices.
The origins of Biltong date back to the 17th century when the European settlers to what is today known as South Africa cured their meat in a way different to the norm of the day by using not only salt, but also vinegar and saltpetre. Over the years, secret family recipes developed to result in delicious varietals of Biltong that we have come to enjoy today.
Historically, Biltong was made predominantly from game meat. However, today Biltong is mainly produced made from beef.
We at Biltong.mu use prime cuts Beef cuts to make our Biltong. We use imported meat sourced from South Africa.
